Directivity Control Waveguide™ Technology

Genelec’s revolutionary Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) technology first developed in early 80’s can greatly improve the performance of a direct- radiating multi-way loudspeaker. The DCW™ waveguide is designed to match the frequency response and directivity characteristics of the drivers in the loudspeaker. This results in an excellent flatness of the overall frequency response for on and off-axis listening positions.

Active vs Passive Loudspeaker Design

When a passive loudspeaker is driven the electrical interaction of the drivers and the non-linearity in the crossover circuitry can cause undesired electrical changes in the loudspeaker performance. The active design approach includes the combined effect of the crossover filter response, power amplifier responses and driver responses in a loudspeaker enclosure.
