Genelec home theatre system grabs an 'Oscar'

Genelec are delighted to have won the Home Cinema Choice Magazine Awards 'Oscar' for the best high-end home theatre speaker system.

The award from Home Cinema Choice went to the active HT208/HTS4 system at the ninth annual award ceremony in London in March, sponsored by Dolby Laboratories. This gong-fest is considered by many to be the most prestigious of home theatre system awards. The competition was stiff, with the second place going to a passive system costing over twice as much as the HT208/HTS4.

Home Cinema Choice re-evaluate a year's worth of product reviews to choose their award winners. In their original review of the Genelec system, published in February this year, Home Cinema Choice's Alvin Gold said of the Genelec system: 'For once, the subwoofer sounds like a natural extension of the satellites. The sound simply stretches down to the lowest frequency limit, and the bass doesn't appear to come from the subwoofer itself...'

'All things considered, this is a superb home cinema speaker system, with the flexibility and power to suit even the most ambitious home installations.'
