Genelec is delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Audio Suite’ at CEDIA Expo UK 2009, a new feature located on stand C7 that will allow custom installers to sample the outstanding performance of Genelec’s active loudspeaker technology, in a typical custom installation setting, whilst isolated from the noise of the exhibition floor.

Not many home theatres have sliding walls on both sides. In fact, it’s perfectly possible that this one, in the well-heeled Florida neighbourhood of Boca Raton, is the only room of its kind anywhere.
Of course, home theatres aren’t supposed to have sliding walls but, as Brett Virgo, CEO of installer Sono Imaging, explains, this room serves more than purpose: “The space the cinema now occupies was formerly a rear-facing patio – a typical Florida feature – with a sliding door and a beautiful view out over the backyard."

For applications centered around computers, such as a producer approving mixes from his office or an engineer mixing on a laptop, Genelec has addressed the needs of this class of professional listener with a no-compromise system designed specifically for computer interface and desktop monitoring. The diminutive 6010A loudspeaker follows the form and function of Genelec’s 8000 series in a sub-compact format. When married with the companion 5040A subwoofer, the result is a full bandwidth, full fidelity system for stereo and surround monitoring, tailored to the application. - Frank Wells reports.

The idea of a ‘room within a room’ may have its roots in music recording studios, but it is a sign of the times that it is becoming increasingly associated with home theatre.
